What are we looking for
We are looking for a Evening Chef to work in a small pub style restaurant outside Peterborough.
You will be keen to expand your knowledge and to progress but with a maturity and responsibility to handle any situation. Working in a small team you must be a self starter and reliable.
You will be working 35 hours a week, 5pm – 10pm Monday to Saturday. Occasionally you will be required to work extra shifts during functions.
Rate of pay is £15 per hour.
You will be in charge of correct preparation and production of all foodstuffs, following recipe cards, production procedures and proper hygiene practices. You will have to ensure high standards of food hygiene & follow the rules of health and safety.
Responsibilities
- Deliver first-class service to the customers and staff;
- Pick up stores, and arrange food and ingredients in the prescribed manner;
- Cook and present as per the standardized recipes;
- Help in the control of all food items in storage and rotation;
- Control wastage;
- Assist in food trial for menu changes;
- Enabling and adherence of the principles and work practices detailed under HACCP System in the department such as Food Safety, Hygiene and Cleanliness, Health, Storage etc. as applicable to the area of your workplace.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a chef in a restaurant or similar setting
- Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable
Skills
- Food safety: Knowledge of proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices
- Culinary: Proficiency in various cooking techniques and the ability to create delicious and visually appealing dishes
- Kitchen: Familiarity with different types of kitchen equipment and tools used for food preparation
